All surgery at The GC CTC is performed under local anaesthetic. Essentially patients are “wide awake” during the procedure but feel no pain.

A block is simply an injection of local anaesthetic either around the surgery site or around nerves supplying the limb.

Finger surgery may simply require a digital block but if hand, wrist or elbow surgery is performed usually an Ultrasound Guided Axillary Block or Forearm Block is utilised.

Forearm Blocks involve injection of local anaesthetic around the median and ulnar nerves. This is the most common block used at The GC CTC for Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release.
